Pregnancy Update #2 : It's A Boy!

So  as my latest pregnancy update has been receiving a lot of attention on my blog, I have decided to do another one, as this week was a big one on the baby front.

Last Wednesday, we had our ultrasound appointment in the hospital, and had already decided we wanted to find out the sex of our baby. Both myself and Paul are very impatient, and I absolutely HATE surprises of any kind, so it was a no brainer for us to find out as soon as possible.
I also need to be very organised otherwise I get really bad anxiety, so the thoughts of having to do some baby shopping the week our baby is due was daunting, especially considering I am due Christmas week!

Waiting in the waiting room was the craziest feeling in the world. On one hand, I was so excited to see our little baby again, and to find out if it would be a son or daughter I will be cuddling this Christmas. But then the reality of the scan kicked in, and knowing that this will be the time that some health issues may be spotted made me extremely anxious, and put the excitement to the back of my mind. Luckily, when we were called in (by the friendliest midwife I have ever met!) the scan went just as we had hoped, and everything with baby looked perfect.

She was able to tell us straight away that we were having a boy, due to the fact our little man wanted to put himself on show for all to see!! He was moving about, grabbing his feet and putting them to his mouth (Yoga baby!!) I think I shocked all my family and friends when they got the call to say it was a boy, as everyone, bar my Mum, had bet on it being a girl. I even felt it was a girl from day one, so it was a major shock for me too! Just goes to show, don't trust in all the old wives tales!

Since finding out we're having a boy, the shopping has kicked into gear. I couldn't resist going out the next day and buying lots of adorable little outfits for him, and have already set up a Pinterest board on little boys fashion, so that I can plan out his looks (Que the OOTD posts for baby once he arrives!)
I'm sure he will be sick of the camera, and constant outfit changes by the time he's a few months old.
Baby Instagram account anyone?!

Symptom-wise I have been feeling quite good this week. I have had some tiredness, and a lot of back ache and pressure, but my energy is good for the most part. Everyday I wake up without nausea, is a blessing in my eyes, having had it for over 4 months!

This whole experience has been a whirlwind of emotions since finding out I was pregnant. There have been some amazing highs, along with some crazy anxiety, but finding out that I will have a beautiful baby boy in my arms in just a few months, has made it all even more real and exciting.

I will continue to update you all on how I am getting on, and may do a little baby boy haul post on my recent purchases too.

Lots of love,

Rosie

Make Up Must Haves

Many of you have been asking me what make up products I use and what I can't live without. As a qualified make up artist, I am always on the look out for the best products, and always like to try new lines that arrive on the market.
Depending on my mood, I can go from a natural(ish!!!) face, to full on glamour. Lately I have found I am wearing less on my eyes, as I think a fresh dewy make up works best in summer. That means no lashes, liquid liner or even kohl, just some light shadow and a touch of mascara.

I'll start with my foundation. I was always an avid MAC fan, from the minute I started wearing make up. I still love their bases, but I find day to day, I have a new love. I have been wearing the Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush mousse make up almost every day for over two years now. It has a light to medium coverage, and doesn't make your skin feel "cakey". I use the Real Techniques buffing brush to apply this.

Depending on how my skin is, I may cover up any blemishes with MAC's Studio Finish Concealer if I need it.

I contour and highlight every day, but will use a light contour from the Crown Brush Concealer palette for a day make up, and will use both the crown brush palette followed by Harmony blusher from MAC to create a more dramatic contour for night time, or more heavy make up looks.

Highlighting has always been one of my favourite steps, as I think it really adds something special to your make up. I have been using MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in soft and gentle for years now, and can't seem to get away from it. No matter what highlighter I try, I always revert back to this one!
I change my blusher daily, depending on my mood. Some days I like a pink tone, but lately I have been opting for a more coral blush, as I think it gives the skin a lovely summery glow. My current must have is  Peaches sheer tone blush by MAC.

For a natural eye make up, I use either Texture or Uninterrupted from MAC all over the eye, blending out to give a soft finish. As for mascara, I am not the most loyal customer, as I chop and change mascaras everytime they run out. My latest favourite is the Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal mascara in black.

Lastly, my favourite lippie! Anyone who knows me, knows that I am rarely caught without some sort of nude lip. For years I was completely addicted to Myth from MAC, and would repurchase time and time again. I always have one in my make up collection, but I have discovered a new love, Sweet and Sour lippie from MAC. It's a beautiful orange tone and is my obsession over the last few weeks.

So there you have it, a little insight into what you will find in my everyday make up bag. Of course, I have plenty more products, but these are the basics that I can't live without.

If you would like a more in depth post on a particular make up look, or how I contour and highlight for a night out, please comment below.

Lots of love,

Rosie

What I Wore : Midi Skirt Trend

This weekend myself and Paul travelled to Donegal for his best friend Mikey and Teresa's wedding. I had put off buying my outfit until last week as I had no idea whether I would have a bump yet, and how big it would be!

I wanted to go for something a little different to the usual dress option that most of us ladies opt for at weddings, but still wanted to be dressy and summery (being optimistic as usual about the weather!)

After falling in love with the latest midi skirt trend, I wanted to recreate my own look, without adding too much volume with the skirt, considering I have a growing bump under there already!

I picked up this beautiful chambray spliced midi skirt with black waistband, and dainty lace crop top, both from Topshop @ Arnotts, Dublin.

This look has received plenty of hits on my Instagram account, as it is not strictly "maternity wear" so can be worn by anyone.

I teamed it with my trusty Zara heels and Zara box clutch bag to finish off the look.

Let me know what you think of the Midi skirt trend, and whether you would try this look yourself.

PS. Here is a close up snap of my make up of the day too…

Lots of Love,

The must have hat for Autumn/Winter '14

Is it bad that I am willing the cold weather and dark evenings to creep up on us? I have always been a big lover of winter fashion, and can't wait for the cosy evenings, layered up in many different textures and fabrics.. Even the colour pallette of Autumn/Winter is my favourite of all the seasons.

If, like me, you are already planning ahead, and starting to build your A/W wardrobe, then look no further than the Fedora hat.

The fedora has been around for a while now, with lighter variations prominent throughout the summer, and a big hit at festivals this year. It is back again for the cooler months, and I have already started to build up my collection.

My lastest addition to my hat collection was this steal from Penneys at €8. I picked up the black, and will most likely be back to grab the neutral toned one this week.

Now is the time to start picking up your must have for the months to come.
They come in very handy on "bad hair days" and look effortlessly stylish and chic at the same time... Every girls goal!

They instantly finish off any outfit, and paired with a chunky cardigan, skinnies and ankle boots, you are not only comfy but bang on trend...

Let me know where you have seen your favourite fedoras, or how you like to style yours...

Lots of love,

Pregnancy Update #1

Hi Everyone....long time no blog posts!!!

As some of you may know, I took an extended break from blogging and have only been focusing on keeping my Instagram account updated lately. I am now at the stage where I miss writing, and blogging for you all, so there "is no time like the present!

Alot has happened in the last few months, and as you can guess by the title, I am expecting my first baby this December!! I am excited beyond belief and can't wait to feel the cold weather creep in, as I know that means babie's due date is closer. I have had alot of requests from some of my followers to do some pregnancy posts, along with my usual fashion and make up posts too. So dont worry, if babies are not your thing, there will be plenty of fashion, beauty and lifestyle posts to come :-)

I am now 19 weeks pregnant and can safely say, I am finally starting to enjoy being pregnant. I won't lie, the first 16 weeks for me were very tough, especially when trying to juggle a job which is demanding both physically and creatively. Thankfully, I love what I do so that made it a little easier to get up in the mornings.
I had very bad morning sickness (or as I like to call it, "all day sickness")  from around week 6 to week 16. My diet was very poor as all I could stomach was Rice Krispies for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I had plenty of doctor and hospital visits, and baby was growing at a great rate throughout, so that kept my mind at ease. After a pretty desperate week at week 16, and feeling like I was reaching breaking point, I finally turned the corner and began to get my appetite back.

As I mentioned, I am currently 19 weeks, and have been craving fresh fruit and all things healthy the last 3 weeks. It has had a massive impact on energy levels, and I no longer have to nap during the day! My skin had not been behaving from all the hormones in the first trimester, but has finally cleared up and over all I am feeling great. I had no bump whatsoever until two weeks ago, and now I am finally starting to show. I started to feel our baby kick in the last two weeks, and now I feel those tiny kicks and punches on a daily basis, which I absolutely love!

We have our 20 week scan next week, and will be finding out if it will be a little Prince or Princess who will be arriving into our family this December.

I will be doing a post shortly on products I have found useful during the first trimester, as well as how to dress for your shape when you are at that "in-between" stage of your pregnancy.

I hope you all enjoyed my little update, and please share your experience's with me below :-)
Please follow me on Instagram where I update everyday too -

Dresscode Review

Looking for the perfect evening dress that will be in your wardrobe season after season? Look no further than Dresscode. They are an Irish brand that specialises in evening wear, deb’s dresses and brides-maid dresses.

The Everyway dress, is one of my favourite in the collection. This dress can be styled in 9 different ways, to suit all body shapes and many different occasions.

Most people, when they hear about this type of dress, panic about how to change to each of the different styles. The everyway couldn’t be easier to figure out.

Each of the dresses has a fabric tube, which you move up and down, to create the 9 different looks. I have tried and tested the dress, and can safely say, without any help at all, I was able to try out all 9 looks without any hassle.

The great thing about the Everyway, is that you can reuse your occasion dress, while having a new fresh look each time. They are also designed to allow you to wear control underwear without the risk of it showing through. They come in two sizes; size 1 (8/10/12UK) and size 2 (14/16/18UK)

As a Personal Shopper at Arnotts, one of the issues that many bride’s-to-be have, is that their bridesmaids are all different body shapes. One may want her shoulders covered, another may want more coverage across the chest. With this dress, each bridesmaid can have her dress in the style that suits her shape the best, all while keeping a uniform colour and look for the bridal party.

This dress is an investment piece, that will take you to any occasion. This dress is available in aqua, black, coral, grape, red and royal blue.
The Everyway dress retails at €220, and can be purchased at Arnotts, Dublin
